Kim Schoeffel, retired from the Air Force on Oct. 1.A 1971 graduate of Seneca Valley High School, he received a bachelor's degree in biology from Seton Hall University in 1975, graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Mo., in 1979 and finished his pediatric residency in 1982.He then was in private practice in Zelienople for three years before joining the Air Force.Schoeffel's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 device), AF Commendation Medal (2 device), AF Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal (1 device), Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, AF Overseas Ribbon Short, AF Overseas Ribbon Long, AF Longevity Service (4 device) and the AF Training Ribbon.He is married to Lt. Col. Sally Schoeffel, retired; and they have two children. They will make their home in Bradenton, Fla., where he will be an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Bradenton Campus.Schoeffel is the son of Rita Schoeffel of Evans City and the late Dale Schoeffel.
