Bucs going green at PNC Park
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates say the lush grass won't be the only thing that's green at PNC Park.
The Pirates are going "green" by offering fans several more environmentally friendly choices, from biodegradable drink cups to recycled toilet paper.
The Pirates are calling it their "Let's Go Bucs, Let's Go Green" program.
Fans will find 180 recycling containers for plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Ushers and cleanup crews will also collect containers left behind by fans. And energy-efficient light bulbs will be used in the park.
The front office will pitch in by using recyclable paper — and hopes to use less than the 2.3 million sheets of copying paper consumed last year by copying documents on both sides.
