Willingham powers Fla. win with walkoff homer

Josh Willingham took a big swing and sent the Florida Marlins home with another dramatic victory.

While rounding the bases with a huge smile, he just wanted his celebrating teammates to be gentle.

"There was somebody yelling in the pile, 'Hey, don't jump on him,'" Willingham said. "I was hoping they wouldn't."

Willingham's winning homer in the 10th inning came after Hanley Ramirez's tying shot in the ninth forced extra innings, and the Marlins rallied to beat the Washington Nationals 6-5 on Monday night.

A day earlier, players jumped on one another after a ninth-inning rally against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Not this time, in part because these late rallies are becoming the norm for Florida, but also because no one wanted to hurt Willingham. The outfielder returned a week earlier after missing 50 games with a back injury.

At Miami, Willingham hit his third career walkoff homer, this one off Jon Rauch (4-2) for his second of the game.

Ramirez, who hit his 18th off Rauch in the ninth, also hit a tying homer in the ninth a day earlier.

Cardinals 7, Mets 1

At St. Louis, Kyle Lohse (10-2) allowed an unearned run in seven innings for his seventh straight win and Chris Duncan hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals.

Cubs 9, Giants 2

At San Francisco, Mark DeRosa hit a grand slam and a two-run homer to match his career high with six RBI, and Ted Lilly (9-5) pitched eight shutout innings as Chicago ended a four-game losing streak.

Astros 4, Dodgers 1

At Houston, the Astros' Roy Oswalt (7-8) struck out nine in six strong innings, then left with a strained hip.

Padres 15, Rockies 8

Edgar Gonzalez's second homer of the game capped San Diego's seven-run ninth inning and the visiting Padres ended their eight-game losing streak. San Diego rallied from five runs down and set a season high for runs.

D'Backs 6, Brewers 3

Mark Reynolds homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs for Arizona.
