Reges

Effective Feb. 1, Senior Master Sgt. Robert Reges will retire from the Air Force after 27 years.

A native of Butler, he graduated from Butler High School in 1978 and joined the Air Force in February 1980.

After basic training and technical school, he was assigned to Carswell Regional Hospital, Texas, as a medical service specialist. In 1984, he was assigned to the 1st TAC Hospital at Langley AFB, Va., where he was assigned to the 94th Tactical Fighter Squadron as a squadron medical element. When not performing squadron duties, he worked in the emergency room and with the flight surgeon's office.

In October 1986, he graduated from the aeromedical evacuation technician's course at Brooks AFB, Texas, and was reassigned to 9 AES, Republic of the Philippines. In 1988 he was assigned to the 645th Medical Center on a humanitarian assignment. During this time he performed duties as NCOIC, neonatal intensive care unit and NCOIC postanesthesia care unit.

In January 1991, he became the senior instructor for the medical apprentice course OL-L at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

He graduated from the independent duty medical technicians course in March 1995 and in July 1995 was appointed as an IDMT to Okuma Joint Service Recreation Area, Okinawa, Japan.

In July 1996, he was assigned to the 45th Medical Group, Patrick AFB, Fla., where he served as the 45th MDOS superintendent.

In August 1999, he returned to the 74th Medical Group at Wright-Patterson as the NCOIC, critical care unit; NCOIC, emergency services; superintendent, primary teams flight; and superintendent, medical readiness flight; and is the current superintendent, HQ AFMC medical operations and plans.

He and his wife, former Butler resident Gina Lankewicz Reges, make their home in the Dayton, Ohio, area. They have three children and a granddaughter.

After his retirement, Reges will be teaching at the Miami Valley College in Ohio.
