McLOUTH'S FIRSTS

• Nate McLouth had 21 hits in the first 11 games last season, the first major leaguer to do so since Paul Lo Duca for the Dodgers in 2004 and the first Pirate since Johnny Ray in 1986.

• McLouth hit safely in his first 19 games of 2008, the longest streak by a Pirate to begin a season since Charlie Grimm in 1923.

• McLouth led off back-to-back games with home runs in 2008, the first Pirate to do so since Barry Bonds in 1988.

• McLouth had 38 hits in April, the first Pirate to record at least 35 hits in April since Matty Alou in 1969.

• McLouth had multihomer games in consecutive home games in 2008, the first Pirate to do so since Ralph Kiner in 1949.

• McLouth had a hit and an outfield assist in the 2008 All-Star Game, the first Pirate to do so since Dave Parker in 1979.

• McLouth scored 113 runs in 2008, the most by a Pirate since Brian Giles scored 116 in 2001.
