Taylor Davidson of Center Township, charged with child endangerment in Butler.

Butler police arrested a Center Township woman after they say she fell asleep, impaired, at a doughnut store drive-thru lane in a car with two young children inside.

Taylor L. Davidson, 26, is behind bars, facing felony child endangerment and other charges.

City officers were called to the Dunkin' on North Main Street shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday when they were notified of a woman in a car “nodding off,” police said.

The woman, identified as Davidson, was in the driver's seat with her eyes closed and her mouth opened. Police said they had to awaken her. In the back of the car, police noted, were two children, ages 2 and 3, in car seats.

Police did not identify the relationship between Davidson and the children. The Butler County Children and Youth Services agency was later notified and took custody of the children.

Davidson, who has two prior convictions for driving under the influence, showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, according to charging documents.

Police said they found two syringes and a tourniquet in her purse. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood tests. Toxicology results were not immediately available.

Police noted in their criminal complaint that while at the hospital, Davidson admitted that she had recently started using heroin.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Davidson on two felony charges of endangering the welfare of a child and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges of driving under the influence are pending lab results.

She is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bond and on a probation detainer.
