Pittsburgh Marathon has 1,300 registered
PITTSBURGH — About 1,300 people have already registered for next year's Pittsburgh Marathon, two months after the race was held for the first time in six years.
This year's marathon, on May 3, attracted 10,500 runners, though some of those ran only a half marathon.
The Pittsburgh Marathon was an elite-level race with a substantial purse in the mid-1980s, and served as the 1998 U.S. Olympic women's marathon trials, but later trimmed much of its prize money. This year's winner collected $4,000.
