Sliders suffer 5-4 loss

After a crazy game against the Butler BlueSox Saturday that was suspended by lightning and rain in the fifth inning, Slippery Rock dropped a 5-4 decision at Springfield (Ill.) in 10 innings Sunday.

Matt Baer had a double, single and scored two runs for Slippery Rock in the loss Sunday.

On Saturday at Pullman Park, Baer hit a grand slam as part of a 10-run second inning to help the Sliders to a 16-8 lead when the rains came.

The game will be resumed at a later date.

Slippery Rock sent 14 batters to the plate in the second inning. Six of the 10 runs against the BlueSox in the frame were unearned.

At least one run was scored in every half-inning.

Butler was off Sunday and travels to Chillicothe (Ohio) for a 7:05 p.m. game today.
