WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals made it a perfect 10.

Ovechkin scored the go-ahead goal with 6:26 left, and the Capitals tied a franchise record with their 10th straight win Sunday, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2.

The reigning two-time league MVP slid on one knee and into the boards to celebrate his 35th goal of the season, a shot from the slot that beat Mike Smith to the stick side. The score rescued the Capitals after Washington blew a two-goal lead.

Rangers 3, Avalanche 1

Marian Gaborik had his 10th career hat trick, rookie Chad Johnson made 34 saves for his first NHL win, and New York snapped a five-game losing streak.

Kings 3, Devils 2

Wayne Simmonds and defenseman Drew Doughty scored in the final 1:46 to give Los Angeles its sixth straight victory.

Simmonds tied it with 1:46 to play with a long backhander, and Doughty scored the winner on a power play with 27.3 seconds left.

Coyotes 4, Stars 2

Shane Doan had a goal and two assists, Ilya Bryzgalov made 38 saves, and Phoenix stretched its winning streak to four games in Coyotes coach Dave Tippett's return to Dallas. Tippett coached the Stars from 2002 until his firing last June.

Panthers 2, Islanders 0

Tomas Vokoun made 33 saves for his career-high seventh shutout of the season, and Jordan Leopold and Keith Ballard scored for Florida.

Vokoun, tied for the NHL shutout lead with New Jersey's Martin Brodeur, had four shutouts in January.
