We're all so eager to buy that new flat screen, fork over $100/month for fancy cell phones, and dump money into myriad excesses that no one needs, but suggest that a better education might cost more, and suddenly people are up in arms. What has happened to our society?

If you're clamoring about how wonderful capitalism is, then you should know that you get what you pay for in America. The best and brightest will take the higher paying jobs that society values, and if South Butler's community decides that teachers are worth less than a manual laborer, then you'll end up with crappy teachers and poorly educated kids.
