Outlaws' Silver Cup race set Tuesday

The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XIV Sprint car race takes place Tuesday night at Lernerville Speedway.

The annual World of Outlaws feature - which pays $30,000 to the winner - sports one of the higher purses on the WoO tour.

Time trials begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by racing at 8 p.m. Sprint cars will be the only division racing at the Sarver track that night.

Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell share the most wins at Lernerville among Outlaw drivers with 15 each. Swindell has won three previous Silver Cup races, including last year's event.

Kinser won his 15th Lernerville feature May 21 of this year, the last time the Outlaws came to town.

Tim Shaffer, an Aliquippa native and former Lernerville points champion, returns to the Sarver track Tuesday with plenty of momentum. At Friday's Night Before the Royals at Eldora Speedway, Shaffer became the first driver in Outlaws history to finish as high as third after getting a provisional starting position.

Shaffer enters Tuesday's race with two Outlaw feature wins this year. He stands 10th in the points race.

Kinser continues to lead the WoO points race with 5,893, a 292-point bulge over runner-up Jason Meyers. Craig Dollansky, Kraig Kinser and Donny Schatz round out the top five.

Outlaws drivers will conduct a meet and greet with fans in the pit area from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday. Fans will be cleared from the pits at 5 p.m., with only those with pit passes allowed to remain.

General admission tickets for Tuesday's show cost $35 for ages 13 and over, $18 for kids 12 and under. Reserved ticket prices are $37 and $19.

The Outlaws will run at Williams Grove Thursday.
