County Commissioner Vice Chairman Kim Geyer announced on Friday that she will seek another term and run in the 2019 primary.

Like her Republican cohort, Commissioner Chairman Leslie Osche, Geyer touted the partnership and resolve the three commissioners have in moving the county forward with fiscal responsibility.

“Together with (Osche and Commissioner Kevin Boozel), we have built a strong and collaborative team of people dedicated to the citizens we serve each and every day,” Geyer said.

“Our municipal, county, regional, state and national collaboration with respective key leaders has changed the way our county government operates, how it is perceived by others and continues to provide our county with new opportunities.”

Geyer said her 2015 campaign centered on low taxes, transportation and infrastructure funding, promoting collaborative government, fiscal responsibility and reduced and efficient government.

Upon taking office in 2016, several programs and projects were implemented to follow up on those promises.

They include a long-term approach to county finances and operational investment to achieve future cost containment, debt management, technological advancements, hiring Mark Gordon and the resultant infrastructure bank, a new 911 communication system, hosting the state Secretary of Agriculture, making the airport part of the county's 10-year plan and moving from a municipal transit authority to a county entity to provide transit countywide and to Pittsburgh.

She considers the top issues to work on in the next term to be transportation infrastructure, advocating for state and federal funding, workforce development, the opioid crisis, economic development and continued fiscal and budget management.

“Reflecting back over the past three years, much has been accomplished for the greater good of Butler County citizens, by the collaborative efforts and by the leadership of the team,” Geyer said. “Furthermore, the outreach of the team to key people and entities regionally, statewide and federally has made a great difference in helping our county to move forward.”

Geyer said much remains to be done, but she, Osche and Boozel stand at the ready to continue serving the residents of the county.

“We are hopeful that most will recognize our efforts to do exactly what we said we would ... do from the very beginning of our service to Butler County taxpayers,” Geyer said.

Geyer is the county liaison for six boards and entities in the county, a member of the state County Commissioners Association and other boards and committees.

In the 2015 election, Osche received the most votes with 20,449, Geyer was second with 18,094 votes and Boozel won the third slot with 12,331 votes.
