SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — A storage building on Miller Road that housed many pieces of equipment for a dairy farm was destroyed by a fire that was discovered just before noon.

The fire at Grassycrest Farm did not affect the cows that were housed in a barn across Miller Road from the storage building. However, at least five tractors reportedly were destroyed.

The business, owned by the Richard Kind family, is insured.

Kind's son, Dwight, was burned on his face and an arm trying to save a tractor.

Assistant Chief Ron Steele of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company said the cause of the fire appeared to have been a problem with the electrical system. However, the state police fire marshal has been asked to investigate to confirm that conclusion.
