Woman gets escort, welcome at work on 100th birthday
Butler County had a welcoming committee this morning for Clerk of Courts employee Helen Knauer, who came to work on her 100th birthday.
Sheriff Mike Slupe picked up Knauer at her residence in the Lumar Village apartments in Butler.
They received a vehicle escort from sheriff’s deputies and city police.
County elected officials and workers greeted Knauer as she arrived on Diamond Street after 9 a.m.
Knauer said she was overwhelmed by the show of appreciation.
Clerk of Courts Lisa Lotz praised Knauer’s efforts over the years.
Slupe said Knauer deserved something special, so he arranged the escort with Butler Police Chief Ron Brown, who also attended.
