J. Kenneth Billman, 85, of Salisbury, Md., died Saturday at the Hospice By The Sea in Florida.

Born in Butler, he was the son of Norbert and Rachel Billman.

He attended Pennsylvania State University, but his education was interrupted by World War II. He volunteered for the Army, served as a B-17 navigator in the 8th Air Force and flew 35 combat missions over Nazi-occupied Europe. Discharged as a first lieutenant in 1945, he returned to Penn State and graduated in 1946 with a degree in business.

Mr. Billman's entire working career was at Armco Steel, now AK Steel, in Middletown, Ohio, most of which was in the credit department of the metal products division.

He retired in 1981 and lived in Salisbury with his wife.

He is survived by two sons, James Billman of Moline, Ill., and Peter Billman of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Norma Jean Kelly of Oil City and Carol Ann McConnell of Butler; an aunt, Agnes Turnblacer of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Phyllis, died in August 1999.
