Aden Shay, Logan Schlobohm lead another explosive Slippery Rock football win: Roundup
Slippery Rock football outscored Iroquois 42-0 in the second and third quarters as the Rockets handed the Braves a 52-21 defeat Saturday night at Troy-Alan Stadium.
Highlights included two huge plays from Logan Schlobohm. He rushed for a 56-yard touchdown in the second quarter, then picked off a Chase Cocoline pass in the third and returned it 55 yards for another score.
Slippery Rock running back Aden Shay continued his assault on opposing defenses, rushing for 216 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.
Derek Coyle scored the Rockets' first touchdown of the game on a 15-yard run in the second period. Cole Schwartz then returned a punt 83 yards to the house, and the rout was on.
Zach Lasko booted a 26-yard field goal to give Slippery Rock an early 3-0 lead. Iroquois grabbed its only lead of the night, 7-3, when Cocoline hooked up with Noah Olowinski on a 42-yard TD.
Cocoline finished the game completing 15 of 32 passes for 234 yards.
The Rockets (3-1) travel to Greenville (4-0) on Friday.
Freshman Sophia Gearhart and sophomore Lydia Springirth finished second and third in 20:14 and 20:25, respectively, to lead Slippery Rock’s girls to a third-place finish at the Commodore Perry Invitational.
On the boys side, Levi Pankratz led the Rockets with a 19:10 for 46th.
Fort LeBeouf beat Butler 3-2 despite Tornado goals from Lucia Leyland and Avery Singer.
Freeport 6, Mt. Pleasant 0 - Cecelia Schlegel scored twice and added an assist for the Yellowjackets. Maggie Conger, Natalia Urik, Ella McConville and Jocelyn Johns also scored, while Tess Hanak had two assists. Sophia Crawford was in goal for the shutout.
Xavier DeWitt scored four goals, and Spencer Valasek had a hat trick in Freeport’s 11-0 rout of Valley. Judah Thompson recorded the shutout in net.
