PHILADELPHIA — Graham Spanier’s lawyers are denying allegations that the former Penn State president concealed child sexual-abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky.

Attorneys Timothy Lewis and Peter Vaira say that Spanier was never informed of any criminal behavior by Sandusky before he was contacted by law enforcement officials investigating the retired defensive coordinator.

Former FBI Director Louis alleges that Spanier, coach Joe Paterno and two other top Penn State officials buried sex-abuse claims against Sandusky in order to protect the image of the school and footballprogram.

But Spanier’s lawyers say Freeh’s conclusion “is simply not supported by the facts.”

Spanier and Paterno were ousted a few days after Sandusky’s arrest last November. Spanier has not been charged and remains a tenured faculty member.
