EPA says water is safe to drink

DIMOCK — Federal regulators say they’ve completed tests on drinking water in the northeastern Pennsylvania village of Dimock, and that the water is safe to drink.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a statement Wednesday saying no further action is necessary in Dimock. EPA also said that there’s no further need to provide residents with alternative supplies of drinking water.

Some residents of Dimock and anti-drilling groups had claimed that Houston-based Cabot Oil & Gas polluted the local aquifer with methane and toxic chemicals, and have disputed EPA’s interpretation of the test results.
