PITTSBURGH — Jurors in a black art student’s federal civil rights case against three white Pittsburgh police officers are set to return for a fourth day of deliberations as they consider the man’s claim he was beaten and wrongfully arrested more than two years ago.

The jurors will return this morning to continue deliberating wrongful arrest, malicious prosecution and excessive force claims of 20-year-old Jordan Miles.

The officers say Miles was prowling near a home and carrying what looked like a gun when he was arrested in January 2010.

Miles says he ran from the plainclothes officers because they didn’t identify themselves and he believed he was being robbed.

The officers say they thought Miles had a gun, but it turned out to be a soda bottle they later threw away. Miles denies having even a bottle.
