Helen Louise Wagner, 91, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at St. John Specialty Care Center, in Mars.

She was born Sept. 26, 1934, in West Sunbury, a daughter of the late James and Martha Raybuck Hockenberry.

Helen was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a devoted mental health advocate. Helen worked a number of years as an aide at Sisters of Divine Providence in McCandless, where she truly loved caring for the Sisters. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cheering on her Pittsburgh sports teams, her usual gin and tonic at the American Legion, Lyndora, and a beer or two with friends at St. John’s occasional happy hour.

She is survived by her four daughters, Diane (Chad Sr.) Green, of Prospect, Cindy Bransfield, of Butler, Grace (Stephen) Wright, of Butler, and Tracy Tucci, of Butler; her son, James (Theresa) Wagner, of Butler; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her nephew, James Hockenberry Jr., of Morrisville; and her niece, Denise Babin, of Morrisville.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Charles Wagner, whom she married Dec. 24, 1951, and who passed away June 29, 2005; two sons; a daughter; her brother; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff of St. John Specialty Care Center and the Visiting Nurses Association for the care, dedication and support they provided to Helen and her family. Their kindness and the wonderful care they gave her are truly appreciated. Additionally, we would like to recognize the wonderful friendships she built during her time at St. John’s. They meant a lot to her and the family.

WAGNER — Private services and burial for Helen Louise Wagner, who died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, will be held at Butler County Memorial Park.
