Ed, you have a very good point that many people may have grew up taking our educational system for granted. I haven't thought about that much, but you can beat I will now. I whole heartedly agree that there are good and bad employees in ALL professions. I've stated that previously. As far as the teachers who screamed at the board that November night, I could name names, but don't feel this is the place to do that. I agree some people cannot discuss a difference in opinions without showing anger. I often read it here on this post. I know many of the South Butler teachers on a personal level. I even have relatives who teach there. It's uncommon to hear anyone support them other than their immediate family members. Maybe it was absurd to some people to make that statement and I apologize if I offended you with it. This conversation has been going on for years in my family. My grandmother taught in a one room school house. She started back in the 1920's and was forced to quit in 1924 because she got married. Back then you couldn't be married and teach school. She started up again as soon as that rule was changed. Believe me I don't think there is any reason at all that this subject should not be discussed and open to discussion. It is one of the very few that I will comment on. Maybe because of my family history! I won't reiterate my reasons for believing that higher salaries don't always bring the best teachers, we've already beat that dead horse.

My question to you Ed is why didn’t you apply for the empty seat on the board? You have shared some really good ideas. I must apologize again to you, I am really surprised that you are not an educator or married to you. I’ve lived in this district for over 40 years and I’ve heard a lot both ways as far as support goes. You are the first I have conversed with that is not related to a teacher in this district that is in support of their demands. I’ve enjoyed our discussions.
