IDs released in 2-car crash
CENTER TWP — State police have released the names of the drivers and a passenger injured in a two-car collision Wednesday morning in the township.
Kimberly A. Summers, 29, of Pittsburgh, one of the drivers, who police suspect ran a stop sign at Jamisonville Road and Route 308 around 9:50 a.m., was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh following the crash.
Investigators also say they suspect Summers might have been under the influence of drugs.
A second helicopter flew Zackary R. Hartman, 20, of Butler, a passenger in the other vehicle, to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police described Summers' and Hartman's injuries as “serious.” The other driver, Dwayne R. Hartman, 56, of Butler, was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital with apparent minor injuries.
According to a police report, Summers was headed east on Jamisonville Road in a Cadillac DeVille and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, and struck Dwayne Hartman's Cadillac CTS traveling south on Route 308.
The collision threw the younger Hartman out of the passenger side door. Witnesses and emergency crews found him lying face down on the ground near the intersection.
All three occupants were conscious and talking to rescuers following the wreck. The occupants, police said, were wearing seat belts.
Summers' car ended up in a home's driveway, and the other vehicle came to rest just off the road near the crash.
Unionville volunteer firefighters had to remove the driver's side door to get Summers out of her car.
Both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed.
