This should be a fun week.

Of the 10 games, five of them could be decided by one score.

I had pretty good success last week, going 10-2 and improving my season record to 20-8.

Good. But not good enough.

On to the picks:

Seneca Valley 34, Butler 10 — In the yearly Butler Eagle Traveling Trophy battle, the Raiders have had the upper hand as of late.

With Jack Cook and Hank Royal giving Butler fits Friday, I think the trophy stays put in the possession of Seneca Valley.

This will mark the 10th straight year Seneca Valley captures the trophy if the Raiders win.

Highlands 26, Knoch 13 — Knoch wants to get the taste of last week’s 42-0 loss to West Mifflin out of their mouths as quickly as possible.

It’s also a big night as the Knights will induct their newest class into the school’s Hall of Fame.

Highlands could be ripe for an upset, but I’m still picking the Golden Rams (mostly because it sounds like Golden Grahams and I’m hungry).

Montour 19, Mars 14 — It’s hard to peg the Planets this season. Montour is a tough test and I could see this one going either way as well.

CWNC 17, Central Valley 16 — The Trojans bounced back in a big way last week. This week they will be in a battle with Central Valley.

This game is a battle of powerful programs and could prove quite interesting.

Aliquippa 27, Freeport 19 — Perhaps the most intriguing matchup on the docket this week, the young Yellowjackets square off against what is sure to be a bunch of angry Quips after Aliquippa’s regular-season winning streak was snapped last week.

Freeport really has nothing to lose — no one really expects them to win this game, except for maybe everyone in that Jacket locker room.

One thing is certain. Look for another standing-room only crowd at Freeport’s new digs.

Karns City 45, St. Marys 15 — The Gremlins have so many weapons it’s hard to keep track of them all.

Way too many for St. Marys to keep track of as well.

Moniteau 26, Union/A-C Valley 22 — Another interesting game. The Warriors have looked good in their two games so far and so have the Union/A-C Valley Falcon Knights — the longest name in high school sports.

This could be one of those pivotal games for both teams.

Slippery Rock 31, Mercer 17 — Both teams are 0-3, but Slippery Rock’s 0-3 is much better than Mercer’s 0-3.

Grove City 38, Franklin 30 — Kameron Patterson is playing out of this world for Grove City. He’s completed 70 percent of his passes and has thrown nine TD passes to no picks.

Summit Academy 38, Cornell 22 — The Knights get a win.
