Rainforest renewal
The National Aviary's Tropical Rainforest has reopened after a $1.2 million renovation. The immersive habitat features bird-friendly glass, a 15-foot waterfall, new bird and plant species, Mac the Military Macaw and Wookiee the sloth. The National Aviary is America's only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated exclusively to birds. It's open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on Pittsburgh's North Side.
