Sad Steelers Fan
I've been a fan of the Steelers for decades. I saw the last game Terry Bradshaw played in, and through the Mark Mallone, Cliff Stoudt, Bubby Brister days... I still watched. I'm feeling a little sad today that this may be the end of having a local NFL team to cheer for. I feel a little sick to my stomach about the Steelers today.
Ben Roethlisberger is at best a bar hopping, immoral, undisciplined, disrespectful, slug with no respect for women. At best! Only pretty girls allowed in HIS VIP area of the bar, buying drinks until the girl is thoroughly intoxicated and having sex in a public place. Like I said... that's the best view you can have of him...
The other view is someone who gets a girl so drunk that she can't even fend him off... believes that because he's a jock, he's entitled to women regardless of their consent or ability to consent.
I can recognize victim behavior, and a girl who within 48 hours of the incident has gone to the emergency room for her injuries, dropped out of school, and moved home with mom and dad... well, something traumatic happened to her.
I cannot cheer for a team that thinks that even the best scenario available from this incident is acceptable. I've been a fan for 34 years... if Ben stays, I go. I question the wisdom of the Rooney family in a decision that would keep him. The Steelers have the largest female fan base of any NFL team. Keeping Ben is a big mistake.
Well, the Salvation Army can expect a lot of donations of our Steelers garb & goodies if Ben's still here. At least the money will go to help a good cause.
