New info shows swine flu still hardest on young

ATLANTA — The latest government information shows swine flu continues to be most dangerous to children and younger adults and is largely bypassing the elderly.

Health officials today released data on lab-confirmed swine hospitalizations and deaths from 27 states. It showed more than half of all hospitalizations were people 24 and younger. However, more than two-thirds of the deaths were in adults ages 25 to 64.

The figures are just since Sept. 1, but the results are similar to what occurred when swine flu first hit in the spring.
