Stocks edge higher as dollar continues to weaken

NEW YORK — The stock market is resuming its climb as a weaker dollar lifts commodities and Federal Reserve officials signal borrowing will remain inexpensive.

The moves in the dollar are again tugging at stocks today, a pattern that has become familiar in recent months.

Gold and oil are higher as the dollar slips following predictions from Fed officials late Tuesday that the economic recovery is likely to be weak. That weighed on the dollar.

At midday, the Dow Jones industrials are up 25 at 10,271. The Standard & Poor's 500 index is up 3 at 1,096. The Nasdaq composite index is up 10 at 2,161.

U.S. government bond markets are closed for Veterans Day.
