John A. Filippone Sr.
John A. Filippone Sr., 79, of 200 Lincoln Ave. died Monday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Salem, Ohio, April 4, 1928, he was the son of Vincenzo and Catherine S. Filippone.
He retired as manager at the Penn Industrial Supply Co. and was a former school bus driver for Tuck's and a former justice of the peace in Center Township.
Mr. Filippone was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Center Township. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 117 and the AARP.
He was an Army veteran of World War IIand the Korean War.
Surviving are a son, John A. Filippone Jr of Chicora; two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Kathy) Bish of Baden and Ginger Filippone of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Susan Livermore of Butler; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Jewell Filippone, who died Sept. 25, 2004; five brothers, and a sister.

Filippone Sr., who died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church North Main Street Extension, with the Rev.
