Walter A. Gasowski, formerly of Economy Borough and Munhall, died on the evening of Sept. 30, 2007, born in Lawrenceville March 28, 1917, gently transitioned from this life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Magdalene, of more than 60 years and their daughter, Emma and her husband, Stephan Masley.

He was a graduate of the Connolly Trade School, and he worked for 35 years as a commercial artist for Service Engraving and Pittsburgh Sun Telegraph. He was also an accomplished professional artist and art instructor.

In retirement, he taught art classes in Homestead Park and at the Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community, spending his last year as a resident of Sherwood Oaks.

He was a member of the Pittsburgh Water Color Society, the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, the Cranberry Art Association and was an artistic contributor to Stefan Lorant's "Bicentennial History of Pittsburgh."

He is survived by his sons, John (Linda) of Export, Dr. Gary (Sandra) of Hanover and Paul (Annie) of Lee, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Tina, Tracy and John, Amy and Kate, Gretchen and Alexander, Jeremy and Carl; and six great-grandchildren.

Our father/grandfather's life was filled with the wonderment of the natural beauty of the land and people around us. His love of art and nature was remarkable and extended into his family and students. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Gasowski, who died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Devlin Funeral Home</B>, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.
