Virginia A. Christie

Virginia A. Christie, 87, of Chicora died of natural causes at 3:25 a.m. Saturday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 3, 1920, in Chicora, she was the daughter of Adam and Alice Biltz Garing.

She and her husband had owned and operated the Plaza Pantry in East Brady for 24 years.

Mrs. Christie was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, where she served on the Fellowship Committee. She also was a member of the Chicora Senior Center and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are three sons, Rick K. Christie of Butler and Gary L. and Douglas P. Christie, both of Chicora; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Keith C. Christie, whom she married Sept. 15, 1942, died Jan. 2, 1988. She also was preceded in death by a sister.

<B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Visitation also will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, where funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Higgins officiating. Burial will be at the Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.The Order of Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
