Donald S. Texter Sr., 80, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Friday at his home after a stroke.

Born Nov. 1, 1927, in Clarion County, he was the son of Melvin and Edna (Troutman) Texter.

Mr. Texter moved to Alaska March 1969 and retired from Cordova Police Department in 1991.

He was an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Ervin, whom he married March 12, 1948; was father to Donald S. Texter Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, George J. Texter of Cordova, Deborah E. (Texter) Germain of Juneau, Alaska, and Barbara R. (Texter) Grant and Manuel Llaneza, both of Anchorage; his dog, Zoie; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. A sister, Margiree Saylor of Bruin, also survives.

He will be missed by lifelong friends and family.
