Hitchcock

Dorothy B. Hitchcock, 84, of Butler died at 5:10 a.m. Thursday at her home.

Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of George K. and Elizabeth P. Remington Barney.

She was a member of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church, where she was a former deacon and elder and had belonged to the Seekers Class and the Prayer Cordon. She also belonged to the Butler Country Club, the Butler Garden Club, the Literary Club and the League of Women Voters.

She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, knitting and reading.

She was an alumna of Evanston High School in Illinois and a 1945 graduate of the University of Illinois.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence W. Hitchcock and his wife, Sharon Sinclair, of Omaha, Neb., and Roger Alan Hitchcock of Butler; a daughter, Alison Ruth and her husband, Troy Schmidt, of Wooster, Ohio; six grandchildren, Brian, Katherine and Mark Hitchcock, Emily Pitorak and her husband, Bryan, and Troy and Geoffrey Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Hitchcock Jr., who she married June 23, 1945, died April 26, 1999 and a sister, Barbara Stout.

<B>HITCHCOCK</B> — Memorial services for Dorothy B. Hitchcock, who died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Covenant United Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., with the Rev. Dr. James Swanson officiating.
