William R. Dingel, Sr., 78, of Valencia died Saturday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless.

He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Perth Amboy, N.J., the son of William J. and Margaret Cox Dingel.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of the Corinthian Lodge 573 F&AM and the Syria Shrine.

He was a Korean War Marine veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lofink Dingel; his children, William R. (Stacy) Dingel Jr. of Butler, Robert D. (Lisa) Dingel of Butler and Kimberly A. Ablak of Collier Township; his sister, Dorothy Phillips of Allison Park, and his eight grandchildren, William III, Dakota, McKenzie, Brooke, and Carrie Dingel, and Robia, Kira and Dylan Ablak.
