Joe

Joe, you are absolutely right about ONE thing: I am against teachers strikes. I'm not against the teachers just the strikes. I obviously disagree with you (respectfully) that the strikes do take away from our children's education. Do you have children in this district? Are you by chance a teacher or a spouse of one? (just curious) Like I said many times I have MANY family members who are teachers and work hard. (Some that had to strike because that was the majority vote taken at the union meeting) As far as the military goes, they can delay entry, but for various reasons it is beneficial to them to take the entry in June. LET'S PUT THE STUDENTS FIRST! That's all I'm saying. You can blame the board and some people can blame the teachers or the union whatever each individual thinks is the root of the problem; the whole bunch is NOT putting the students first. If they did they would never walk out period.

Just to set the record straight I NEVER said the students don't get 180 days in during a strike, I simple said it affects them period. Please reread my post. Since you brought that up, however, my son who is a Senior will only have 178 days this year. The Seniors will graduate on the 18th of June and the rest of the student body will finish the 25th of June. The Seniors will be required to attend two (2) Saturdays (which screws up their work schedule)to make the 178 days. Please read more carefully.
