Joyce Marie Merrell Foley, 48, of Platte City, Mo., died Tuesday at St. Luke's Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born April 4, 1959, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of the late John and Janice White Merrell.

She married John L. Foley, formerly of Butler, on Oct. 6, 1989, in Hagerstown, Md.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Foley was of Native American descent, and followed their traditions closely. She was a member of the Missouri Free Trappers, and enjoyed taking part in historical re-enactments.

She is survived by her husband and her sister, Edith Merrell of Pittsburgh.
