Clifford Paul Boyer, 75, of Butler, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 6, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, in Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 26, 1950, in Rimersburg, to Dorothy and Chester Boyer, Clifford was one of nine children.

After graduating from Redbank Valley High School in 1968, Clifford served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Beginning his service in August 1968, he trained in ground-control radar repair at the U.S. Army Signal School at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He later instructed new recruits in that specialty before deploying to Vietnam, where he was stationed at Duc Pho and Chu Lai.

His commendations included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Expert Marksman qualification with the M-16 rifle. Clifford was honorably discharged in April 1971.

On Oct. 5, 1974, he married Bobbie Shick, from New Bethlehem, and they settled in Liverpool, N.Y. In 1976, they relocated to Butler, where they have been for 50 years. Clifford retired from Pennsylvania American Water Company in 2013, where he worked as a water plant operator.

Clifford enjoyed fishing and boating, hunting, golfing and working around his home.

Clifford is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bobbie (Shick) Boyer; his sisters, Audrey Cooper, of Tampa, Fla., Judy Knapp, of Atascadero, Calif., Carol McCullough, of Rimersburg, and Ruby Kay John, of East Brady; his brother, Mark Boyer, of Rimersburg; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Amy Boyer and Janet Schreckengost; and his brother, Joseph Boyer.

His family and friends will deeply miss Clifford and his silly sense of humor and loving compassion.

BOYER — Visitation for Clifford Paul Boyer, who died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, at ALCORN FUNERAL HOME, Hawthorn, Pa., followed by a short service. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig American Legion Post 354, of New Bethlehem, will honor their fallen comrade.

Interment will be at the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, in Porter Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Walter W. Craig American Legion Post 354, of New Bethlehem, the Butler County Humane Society or any veterans organization.
