POLICE REPORTS
Dec. 26 — Matthew J. Yancik, 44, of East Butler was charged with drugged driving and being more than twice the state's legal limit for alcohol stemming from a hit-and-run crash in November on Hickory Street.
Police said a woman flagged them down around 6:05 p.m. Nov. 23 and reported that a car had just struck her vehicle and did not stop. While the victim spoke to police, the suspect's car drove by again and the woman pointed it out, according to court documents.
Yancik was found with a suspended marijuana pipe and he eventually was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, police said, which showed he had marijuana in his system. Additionally, his blood-alcohol level was allegedly 0.188 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.
He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and hit-and-run.
Monday — Police reported that they have linked a 17-year-old boy to seven shoplifting incidents at the Butler Commons’ Walmart, totaling nearly $1,800 in merchandise. Officers initially were called around 5:40 p.m. Dec. 10 for a report of a shoplifter who fled the store.Police did not release the boy’s name, who is charged in juvenile court with several counts of retail theft.2:53 p.m. Sunday — Tory E. McCoy, 20, of Butler was allegedly caught shoplifting $162 worth of merchandise at the Kohl’s store in the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. She is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
