HARRISBURG — An expected House vote on a bill to expand legalized casino gambling in Pennsylvania is being postponed.

Rank-and-file House Democrats said this morning that party leaders told them in a closed-door meeting they should not expect to be called back for a vote until next week.

Democrats gave conflicting reasons for the move. It comes a day after Gov. Ed Rendell questioned whether the Legislature will pass a table games bill that was a key piece of October's state budget deal.

House Democratic leadership unveiled the legislation Monday and have pushed since then for a vote. Republicans largely oppose it.

The Democratic-penned measure would still require approval from the Senate before it could become law.
