Alameda Park's entertaining history topic of shelter program
BUTLER TWP — A program on “The History of Alameda Park — Butler’s Disneyland” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. June 11 at the Carousel Shelter at the park.
Alameda Park was an amusement park from 1901-1944. It was complete with a roller coaster, a Ferris wheel and boating lake.
Many celebrities, including trumpeter, singer and all around jazz great Louis Armstrong, performed in the outdoor theater and dance pavilion.
Historian Bill May of Butler will give the 60-minute slide show with rare photographs, video clips and entertaining tales.
