CALIFORNIA, Pa. — A California (Pa.) University basketball player has been charged with raping a female student after a party in a housing complex.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 19-year-old Jeremy Posey of Huntingdon, a sophomore on the state-owned school’s basketball team.

A newspaper reports Posey was arraigned on charges he raped the student, who is also 19, at an apartment in Vulcan Village early Saturday.

The woman told police Posey followed her to her room when she tried to go to sleep about 4 a.m. that day and then sodomized her while she lay motionless.

Police say the woman produced a text message from Posey showing that he allegedly knew she was awake during the incident.

A university spokeswoman says the school is supporting the alleged victim and that Posey faces school discipline, too.
