At one time unions were needed very badly as the companies were too strong. Today the unions are too strong (don't get me wrong at one time I belong to a union so I saw both sides of the issue. Before we had the union the best person was picked for the job,after the union the one with the most seniority got the job no matter how productive he was. Today the tax payer is the company and the teachers work for us. As you said today we have some FANTASTIC teachers and as in a company you would not fire your best worker. THANK YOU!
