Butler's Un-Humane Society
Butler's Humane society has a policy not to euthanize the animals that are there. How ‘humane’! It’s better to let them rot with infection or hunger until they die?
I had four kittens, born by a stray cat in my hot, dirty nasty garage. They didn’t ask to be born, but they were. All they wanted is to live, like any other living organism since time began.
I didn’t have enough food to feed myself last month (June, 2010) and can’t feed kittens, let alone get them shot @ circa $400.00 per cat at a wonderful ‘animal loving’ veterinarian clinics.
Tonight, after coming home I went in the garage to feed and water the kittens. One of them was crying painfully. Meowing so loudly in a kitten’s voice. It, like any other curious kitty, had a paw stuck on a fishing rod in the garage with a fishing hook rammed into it’s right arm above the paw, stuck there, not able to move. Who knows how long this torture was taking place.
I tried to free it and it was no use, so I ran into the house and grabbed both scissors and my fillet knife. The knife was the only chance. The arm was black, probably from trying to free itself from the hook and I cut all the lines from the five rods and reels in order to narrow it down to one. Then, I had to pry the hook out of this poor kitten’s arm.
It was so upsetting that I wanted to die. I called the wonderful ‘humane’ society to ask what could be done as this kitty would certainly get infection. A voice said they would call me back.
Well, wonderful voice, you who probably claim with pride how you love animals; I have yet to hear from you. You who say ‘we don’t euthanize the animals’ don’t have to ever face life’s reality. Those of us who do, have to make horrible decisions.Just because you don't see it, must make you feel big about yourselves.
I can't figure what good a shelter is that won't take animals that can't be taken care of.The website always says 'no kittens, strays or otherwise." What is one to do? It's a potluck kind of deal?
Euthanize and be what you ‘claim’: humane.
