HARRISBURG — Gov. Ed Rendell said he expects criminal charges to be filed against his revenue secretary who resigned earlier today.

Rendell told reporters Stephen Stetler is one of the people against whom Attorney General Tom Corbett will announce charges at an afternoon news conference.

Corbett's office said the news conference will disclose additional arrests in the three-year investigation into the Legislature's campaign and financial practices. The probe has already resulted in charges against 22 people.

Stetler represented a York district from 1991 to 2006 and had been a leading campaign strategist for the House Democrats from 2003 to 2006. Rendell appointed him revenue secretary last year.

Stetler's lawyer didn't return phone messages seeking comment today. Corbett's office hasn't said who will be charged.
