State Democratic leaders set for arraignment
HARRISBURG — Former state House speaker Bill DeWeese and former state Rep. Stephen Stetler are expected to turn themselves in today for a preliminary arraignment in Dauphin County on charges of theft and conspiracy.
DeWeese, Stetler and a DeWeese aide were charged Tuesday. Prosecutors say the three Democrats misused public resources for campaign purposes.
Stetler had been the state's revenue secretary but resigned early Monday morning just hours before the charges were announced.
Twenty-five people connected to the state House have been charged in the probe.
Former state Democratic Rep. Sean Ramaley was acquitted of all charges in the probe's first trial.
