Investigation of fatal hit, run is continuing

PITTSBURGH — The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office says a man killed in a Pittsburgh hit-and-run incident had reportedly argued with the driver of the vehicle before he was struck.

The medical examiner says the dead man is 40-year-old Chad Vida, of Etna.

Pittsburgh police have yet to name the driver, though they say they know that person’s identity.

Police say Vida was found lying on Liberty Avenue near the Bloomfield Bridge shortly after he was hit about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say the driver stopped to call 911 from a location near the accident scene and has been interviewed by detectives.

It was not clear Monday if or when police planned to charge the driver. Police say they still need more information from any witnesses to complete their investigation.
