Aiden Shay’s 200-yard, 4-TD night gives Slippery Rock, head coach first win: Week 2 football highlights
Aiden Shay shredded Conneaut’s defense for a career night, and Slippery Rock football gave head coach Steve Monteleone his first win as a head coach Friday night.
Shay slashed for 227 yards four touchdowns of 16 or more yards in a 57-21 rout of Conneaut. His second TD was a 67-yarder.
He was not alone on a night when the Rockets (1-1) put up 368 yards of offense, 354 of them on the ground. Quarterback John Petras ran for TDs of 1 and 17 yards, finishing with 39 total yards on the ground, and Isaac Steele and Camden Reich returned turnovers on defense for SR touchdowns late in the game.
Aliquippa 42, Mars 27 — Nate Walker led two fourth-quarter scoring drives coming off the bench and finished with 136 passing yards, but it was too little too late for Mars in a road loss.
Walker finished 9 of 15 with two touchdown passes, to Liam Corcoran and Smyth Dunaway, in the final six minutes, plus an interception. He replaced starter Colin Yurisinec, who went 11 of 27 for 152 yards, a rushing and a passing TD, and three interceptions.
Brady Brennan caught six passes for 97 yards, plus he returned a first-quarter interception 41 yards to pay dirt for an early 6-0 lead.
Mars fell to 0-2.
Central Clarion 50, Union/A-C Valley 0 — The Falcon Knights’ offense did not have the same juice as Week 1 in this matchup, generating less than 200 yards in a road loss.
Quarterback Andrew Kifer was 15 of 25 for 101 yards and a touchdown, hitting Nick Ielase three times for 46 yards. Micah Kindel led the run game with 23 yards on 11 carries and had a fumble recovery on defense.
U/ACV fell to 1-1.
St. Marys 34, Moniteau 0 — The Warriors (0-2) are still searching for their first win and first points of the young season after a road shutout loss. No stats were provided from this one.
