We recently had a wedding reception and chose Highfield Hall as the venue. The hall is a very nice building, with plenty of parking and located in a very nice area. The hall itself is a wonderful place to hold such events ... however, the staff leaves much more to be desired. Did you know that they only accept cash (literally cash) and then they have the gall to charge sales tax! Can someone explain to me how they get away with this? That is just the begining of their downfall. They also charge you 10% gratuity - I am all for tipping your staff, but only when it is well deserved and after services are rendered. Not the staff at Highfield Hall, they require this payment in full in advance of your event, including the gratuity! After the wedding reception I firmly believe that the staff was not deserving of the 10% gratuity. They were very rude, not only to us, the renters, but to our guests. Upon arriving at the hall on Saturday morning to prepare for the evening's events they did not smile, and barely responded to questions or conversations made with them. They acted as though we were inconveniencing them. This was supposed to be a happy joyous day for our family. We were all excited and happy and then we had to walk into the daldrum of that hall with it's staff. The staff knows that this hall is rented out for such events - Happy Events - is it too much to ask for some politeness, common courtesy, or at the very least - civility? During the reception, it was brought to our attention that the bartender (also a Highfield Hall Staffer) was rude and judgemental to our guests. The bartender also disposed of alcohol and other drinks, which we,as renters purchased, without our authorization.

Although we had a beautiful wedding and awesome reception (no thanks to the Highfield Hall staff) I would not recommend this venue to anyone. Several years ago this hall was renovated - now I believe it is high time that the staff is renovated.
