Better off elsewhere

What a waste.

And I’m not talking about the worthless dudes on my fantasy football team.

I’m talking about the under utilized and under appreciated players languishing away on real life NFL rosters this season.

There are more than you’d think.

With the NFL trade deadline around the corner, maybe a few of these guys will get traded to teams which will better use their talents.

Here are few that spring to mind:

Tim Tebow, N.Y. Jet and publicity lightning rod.

Any list of misused players has to start with Timmy T.

He has a trademarked pose after all. But Tim hasn’t had many opportunities to do his Tebowing thing this season because the N.Y. Jets are using him as a very expensive decoy and clipboard holder.

Tebow has thrown three passes this season and has carried the ball just 22 times for 76 yards.

The Jets should put him on a jet bound for Jacksonville or, gasp, Buffalo. The Jags desperately need someone — anyone, really — who can put a charge into that very pedestrian organization.

In Buffalo, Tebow may very well shine under Chan Gailey, who turned Kordell Stewart into “Slash” and then into a quite efficient quarterback every other season.

LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneer and short yardage ...

Well, he’s not really a specialist, seeing that he failed on three straight carries to get 1 measly yard against the Saints last week.

With Doug Martin emerging as the all-around back the Bucs have coveted, Blount is expendable.

Blount is at his best grinding out games late and hurdling people. What better place to do that than in Pittsburgh?

Peyton Hillis, he is a Chief, right? And former Madden cover boy.

Hillis couldn’t be more off the radar if he were backpacking through South America.

Since his breakout season with the Browns, Hillis has done next to nothing, mostly because of injuries and the fact he was, well, with the Cleveland Browns.

Now he is with another awful team in Kansas City.

Like Blount, he needs to go to a team that will use him properly as a battering ram.

Terrelle Pryor, Oakland Raider and waste of a third-round supplemental draft choice.

Pryor hasn’t even sniffed the field for the Raiders. Why?

It’s not like Carson Palmer is lighting up the league and it’s not like Pryor can’t add a little wrinkle to the painfully boring and predictable Oakland offense.

Terrell Owens and Plaxico Burress, free agents.

Heck, throw Chad Ochocinco Johnson, whatever he is calling himself these days, in there, too.

A team should sign all three of these guys, a team like say, Jacksonville or Cleveland or some other struggling franchise.

The team may still stink, but it would be very entertaining. And that is what the NFL is after all.

Entertainment.
