A Saxonburg woman is accused of assaulting a juvenile girl and giving her a drink with 100 mg of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, “as a punishment,” according to Saxonburg police.

Crystal Rose Roberts, 40, was charged Tuesday, Sept. 1, with one misdemeanor count each of child endangerment, corruption of minors and simple assault following two incidents in December 2023 and in June.

Police said the first incident occurred Dec. 18, 2023. Roberts and the girl had gotten into an argument outside and Roberts grabbed the girl by the back of her neck and threw her on the frozen ground, where she struck her head, police said.

according to police, photos from the incident showed red marks on the girl’s neck. Police said a mandated reporter filed a ChildLine report, but Saxonburg police had no record of the incident.

The second alleged incident occurred June 20, police said. Police said the girl had told her father she had ingested part of a THC gummy with her friends.

According to police, when Roberts found out, she took her daughter with her to purchase a 12-ounce “3CHI” drink that contained 100 mg of THC and 10 mg of CBD and the girl drank the entire drink. Police said the can was marked as one of the company’s strongest seltzers for users with a high tolerances.

According to police, the girl said she felt extremely nauseous and dizzy about 30 minutes after and threw up about an hour later when she tried to eat.

The girl allegedly told police when Roberts saw her throwing up and told the girl she “gave it to her as a punishment” and to “see what she could tolerate.”

Roberts’ preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled.
