Crews clean up oil spill

JEFFERSON HILLS — Cleanup crews are on the scene of a chemical spill at a Marathon Oil station south of Pittsburgh.

There have been no reports of injuries or any evacuations.

Allegheny County 911 dispatchers say the spill was reported about 5:20 a.m. Monday at the Marathon Petroleum plant in Jefferson Hills.

Officials say about 1,000 gallons of a water-based emulsion product comprised of water, soap and hydrochloric acid leaked from a storage tank.

Dispatchers say the leak has been located and fixed, and that a contractor is working with Marathon officials to clean up the mess.
